Abstract

The research is aimed at: 1) analyzing the correlation between the students candidate’s national examination score and students’ academic achievement, 2) analyzing the correlation between students candidate’s admission test score with students’ academic achievement. The research hopefully could give the following advantages: 1) to get description on the correlation between students candidate’s national examination score and the students’ academic achievement, 2) to give inputs for student admission test improvement at IKIP PGRI Semarang. The research is designed as correlation research with exposfacto research methods. It is conducted in 6 months to analyze the correlation among variables. The population of this research are students of semester II, IV, and VI of all department at IKIP PGRI Semarang in academic year 2013. Based on the result of the research and research analysis, a conclusion can be made that: 1) students candidate’s national examination score has weak correlation with students’ academic achievement, 2) students candidate’s admission test score has weak correlation with students’ academic achievement. Through this research, the following suggestion could be offered: 1) students candidate’s national examination as a requirement in students admission selection needs to be studied further, 2) criteria of students’ admission test passing grade in students admission selection need to be futherly studied, 3) external factors which possibly affect students’ academic achievement such as learning materials, lecturers, learning facilities, books availability, and courses schedule need to be improved.
