Abstract

Phenomenon occurs around our society recently is apprehensive enough. It is proved by the children attitudes of ignorant, cheating in exam, and doing much violence such as fighting among students spread through video and news at mass media. Effort to overcome the children low attitude and character is by character education. Student’s handbook is a must for learners in learning curriculum of 2013. The objective of this research is to describe and analyze character value of student’s integrated thematic handbook of curriculum of 2013 by the theme The Beautiful of togetherness. It is a qualitative research which source is student’s handbook of integrated thematic of curriculum of 2013 for the 4th grade of Elementary School/ Islamic Elementary School by the theme The Beautiful of Togetherness edited and published by ministry of education and culture. The data collection of the research was from the unstructured interview and listen and write technique. Researcher wrote the data using data card and then crosscheck the validity of data as well as conclude the analysis result. The result of the research data analysis showed that there are fourteen character values on the student’s integrated thematic handbook of curriculum of 2013 for the fourth grade of Elementary School/Islamic Elementary School by the theme The Beautiful of Togetherness. Those character values are integrated into reading texts, sentences, as well as pictures on the book. In constructing character values it needs synergy cooperation between teachers and parents in order to create a good behavior system. So that it is good that The Ministry of Education and Culture can complete 18 character values on the student’s integrated thematic handbook of curriculum of 2013 for the 4th grade by the theme The Beautiful of Togetherness.
