Abstract

This study discusses the analysis of the types of slang and the meaning of slang. In addition, this research also has a contribution to the teaching of English. The purpose of this study is to find slang and its types in “The Hangover” movie. In this study, the author uses the theory of Allan and Burridge to analyze slang. To analyze slang words, the researcher pays attention to the conversations in the movie and subtitles and classifies each slang into the types according to the theory used. In the results of this study, researchers found 45 slang words. There are 45 slang divided into five types. In the Fresh ad Creative type, there is 14 slang, 15 are in the Flippant, 9 in Imitative, there is only 1 in Acronym, and 6 in the Clipping type. The study results concluded that the slang used is more dominant to the Flippant type, with data on 15 slang in this type.
