Abstract

Knowing the business correspondence well for School Officers in an institution is a must. It means that a school officer should have an ability to write a letter correctly and based on the rule. Otherwise, it will make the institution fail to give the information to addressee or other institutions because the addressee has wrong perception to the letter they receive. As a result, it can make the institution itself gets bad effects of it. From observation done by the team of IKIP PGRI Semarang found that most of the letters written by School Officers had not used the rule of writing business correspondence correctly. Therefore, the team offered a solution that is by giving a business correspondence training for them. The main aim of this training is to improve the ability in writing business correspondence of the school officers in MI, MTS, and MA in the area of Tembalang. The materials delivered in the training were formats of business correspondence, parts of business correspondence, language used in business correspondence, and kinds of business correspondence. Lecture, demonstration, question and answer, practice, and giving assignments as an evaluation were the methods used in the training. The output targets of the training are: school officers are able to identify the examples of the letter correctly, to write business correspondence using the right language and format, and to write some kinds of business letter correctly according to the necessity.
