Abstract

This research is conducted with the purpose is to provide alternative way of learning English using blended learning which involves internet and gadget era, manifested in computer –based interactive game. The main background for the research lies on a certain circumstance where language learners are so familiar with internet and own gadgets, but they prefer using them to play computer or internet games rather than to study. This research problems are; 1) What computer-based interactive game learning model is appropriate for intermediate level English learners, 2) What kind of computer interactive games that can be developed as a language learning media in intermediate level, 3) How to develop a guide for the computer-based interactive game for Integrated English Language Learning (IELL) in in intermediate level. The purposes of this research is to find out the appropriate learning model for intermediate level, to develop a design of computer-based interactive game, and to create a guide on how to use the computer-based interactive game. The game is created using software Language Game Maker; Comprehension Task Maker and Matching Game Maker. The website is designed using Adobe Dreamweaver CS5. This descriptive research is employed to bridge the learning gap between language learners and the use of technology. The population of the research is English learners on intermediate level. Data is collected using online questionnaire as the instrument. The game, as the final research product is internally tested to fourth and fifth semester students of English Department of IKIP PGRI Semarang.
